My A-M-D-S-G Tourism

It’s been so long I haven’t written any blog. But I will tell you reason why I didn’t write any through this article. Well I was on a UP/Gujarat tourism. So I would like to tell you about my journey to A-M-D-S-G Agra, Mathura of UP and Diu, Somnath, Gir of Gujarat.

India is known as a country of diversity and you come to know about this diversity only when you visit different states of India, taste their food and know their culture and traditions. Well in last 3-4 months, I had been to Agra, Mathura, Somnath and Diu.

Firstly I will start with the place where beauty of India is. Yes! It’s the Taj Mahal which is in Agra. We first visited the Taj Mahal as I was very excited for it. The first thing that comes to our mind when we think about Taj Mahal is it’s beautiful white marble architecture. We all know that it was build by a Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in the memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal. My eyes were popped out when I saw this beautiful mausoleum. Whatever I had heard about Taj Mahal in my school and entire life was indeed true. ‘Beautiful’ is more than enough to describe what Taj Mahal is. No wonder why it is one of the 7 wonders of the world.

Moving ahead, we proceeded further to go to our next destination which was Fatehpur Sikri It is a red sandstone building. It has a huge entrance gate named ‘Buland Darwaza’. Fatehpur Sikri too was an amazing place and it really gave me peace of mind. We ended our first day journey here and headed back to hotel. The next day we had to wake up early as we wanted to cover few more places in Agra and then drive till Mathura. So we went to our last destination in Agra which was Agra Fort. Agra Fort was a place where I clicked lot of pictures for my instagram post (*wink*)

Then we drove till Mathura for around 2 hours – kms. And stayed back to the hotel that night as we were too tired. Mathura- The birthplace of Lord Krishna. Honestly speaking, for me, visiting 1-2-3-4 temples is fine,, but then visiting 10-12 temples where all the temples are famous and hearing the story behind it was annoying. At least for me.  Carrying a bag and on top of that sun and then keep walking from one street to another is really tiresome. Some quick views about the place:

Popular drinks: Buttermilk & Lassi

Places you must visit: Krishna Janma Bhoomi Mandir, Prem Mandir– especially in the evening, Dwarkadhish, Govardhan Hill which is just a stone now, Vishram Ghat, Barsana-Janmabhoomi of Radha ji, NidhiVan and there are lot of other small temples.

Popular sweet dish: Mathura pedha

But I personally feel that Mathura is a very unclean city. Being known for its Krishna janmabhoomi, the city should be kept clean as it’s a tourist place and not only in India but also people from other country abide (manna) lord Krishna.

So this was my end of UP tourism.

After a month we decided to visit Diu and Somnath which is in Gujarat. So we drove around 900 kms till Diu and covered the journey in 18 hours. We reached Diu around 4 am. Same day we took a tour of the city in the morning. Diu must be just 5-10% of Mumbai. It’s a very small city but very clean and beautiful. Beaches were clean too. You can enjoy water sports at Nagoa beach and Ghogla beach. There’s Diu Fort as well. We enjoyed hanging out on the roads at late night.

Then next day we headed to Somnath temple which was around 84 kms from Diu. We reached there in 2 hours. Somnath is one of the twelve jyotirlinga. There was strict dressing code for everyone. I felt very relaxed sitting by the temple. The soothing view of the sea by the temple, the breeze, the chants, the prayers. Stress buster. Then we returned back to hotel which was in Diu.

Now, the last day of my journey was Gir forest national park. We drove around 66 kms which took around 3 hours. The forest area itself was so big, that it took 2 hours for us to internally visit and reach the place where lions & tigers actually are. You can actually take jeep rides but there’s no guarantee that you’ll see these carnivorous animals. So we decided for bus ride only and we saw lion, tiger, cheetah and leopard. Felt ecstatic to see tiger & lion. Then we headed back to hotel in Diu.

And with this we ended our A-M-D-S-G tourism and next day we left for Mumbai. Thanks for reading this article. Hope this article helps you in case if you plan to visit any of this place:)
