Mumbai Meri Jaan

My very first blog and yes I would like to start by writing it about Aamchi Mumbai – A city of dreams, magic and madness. Mumbai has not been so easy to live in but still people living in Mumbai are so attached to the city that they feel Mumbai as their home. I love Mumbai :

Because if you really want to chill and go to a breezy place to hangout, there’s always Juhu Beach, Marine Drive, Bandstand, Worli Seaface, Aksa beach and yes! how can we forget the Gateway of India etc.

Because if you are really hungry, there are lot of restaurants to have yummy food but more than those restaurants, I prefer street food to fill in my stomach like “The famous Vada pav” at Anand (Vile Parle), Pav bhaji at Sardar’s(Mumbai Central), Chicken tikka roll at Bademiya (Colaba), Juices and milkshake at Bachelorr’s (Charni Road), Falooda at Badshah (CST), Dosa at Ayyappan Idli Stall (Matunga) and the list goes on..

Because Mumbai is very convenient to travel. Even if you don’t have your own car or bike or scooty, you can use public transport like Bus, Train, Rickshaw, Taxi etc. for which you don’t need to struggle much. And so we say “Local Trains are the heart of Mumbai“.

Because Mumbai has faced a lot of riots and terrorist attack and even after all this, the next day, you’ll find people living their lives in a normal way. That’s how people know how to celebrate their life.

Because we are crazy for Sachin Tendulkar here. And how can we forget the historic win for India ICC world cup 2011 at Wankhede Stadium.

Because to find your way to shopping, there’s Crawford Market, Colaba Causeway, Bandra Linking RoadFashion Street, Hill Road and many more.

Because whenever you feel like seeking Lord’s blessing, the temples deserving special mention are Siddhivinayak Temple and ISKCON Temple.

Because if you want to explore more, the road trip is always the best idea. There are hill stations like Lonavala, Khandala, Matheran, Mahableshwar.

Because Mumbai is known for celebrating all the possible festivals. People extravagantly celebrate Ganesh Chathurti. Apart from that, people also celebrate Diwali, Holi, Christmas, Navratri, Eid with great enthusiasm and plethora of other festivals, like Kala Ghoda.

Because how can we forget the Bollywood – Hindi film industry. Mumbai is a home to Indian film and it accounts for almost 60% of film productions.

Because if want to enjoy a day out at amusement or water park, there’s Essel World, Water Kingdom, Suraj Water Park, Shangrila Water Park, Tikuji-ni-wadi and lot of other resorts.

Because if you really want to eat, enjoy live music, dance at the same time then Hard Rock Cafe is best place to visit.
But there is always two sides of the same coin. If Mumbai is popular for things mentioned above, then it is also popular for it’s traffic, slum and crowd. Moreover, Mumbai has been the most preferred target for most terrorist organisations.
But ignoring all this, you will find it the best and cheapest city to live in. And that’s why we call MUMBAI MERI JAAN…
